The Problem
Small-scale farmers and agricultural cooperatives in Africa often face challenges in accessing fair markets and transparent pricing for their produce. Global buyers, in turn, struggle to find a reliable, traceable source for high-quality African agricultural products, leading to a fragmented and inefficient supply chain.
The Solution
KisoIndex, a cutting-edge sourcing platform that connects global buyers directly with trusted farmers and cooperatives across Africa. The platform provides real-time crop pricing, historical trend analysis, and market insights to empower both farmers and buyers to make data-driven decisions. This creates a transparent and efficient market, ensuring fair pricing for farmers and high-quality, traceable produce for buyers.
My Role & Responsibilities
As a junior developer, collaborated with the team to build the core data infrastructure and the market analytics. My work involved developing the API to handle live price data feeds, creating the algorithms for historical trend analysis, and implementing the platform's price alert and notification system. I also contributed to the front-end development, focusing on the data visualization dashboards and the user interfaces for both farmers and buyers.
